Preparing Your Septic Tank for Spring

Spring can bring a lot of rain to Georgia and that can put a strain on your septic tank.

Give your system some help:

  1. Remove clogs in your sink and shower drains. Clogs make your septic system work harder to remove water.

  2. Change your tank filter. The overall operation of your system can be disrupted by a filter clogged with debris from winter storms and spring showers. Make this part of your spring cleaning checklist.

  3. Check your gutter downspouts. Redirect them away from your septic tank to eliminate the risk of flooding.

  4. Have your septic tank pumped. All that rain added to a nearly full tank can lead to backups and flooding. Do some early spring cleaning and have a professional come pump out your septic tank.
